Thought For The Day

Let the light of truth burn brightly, may the light of love illuminate our paths, may hope and kindness be reborn, may all those who suffer find solace, may we all live a blessed life.

" Gissy Gowns I have Known ".

When I was a child, I had a dressing gown that used to belong to my sister. My sister is 12 years older than me and when she grew too old and tall for it, I said I wanted it. I then wore it for years until it was literally a rag. I remember it, it was cobalt blue.

When I finally got rid of it, it was so short, threadbare and covered in weird rips and a Coke patch that I had GLUED on !

Classy.

I loved that dressing gown and I was always rather proud that we got so much wear out of it, as when my parents bought it for Donna in the early 70s, it was very expensive.

So, it's not without a big smile that I see our daughter is doing the same thing. She has a dressing gown that we bought for her when she was still quite a bald little thing. At that time it fitted perfectly.

I did mention that perhaps she might like to wear the other dressing gown we have for her that fits, a sort of Obi-Wan Kenobi affair, with sexy pagan hood.

But no. She will not part with her hot pink and butterfly detailed " gissy ".

Her arms dangle from the cuffs like Oliver Twist ( before he became wealthy ) it's practically waist length, instead of ankle length, but she will not part with it.

Dammnit, I'm proud !

Today we have had satellite installed, which whilst better than Telstra is still pricey enough, but, well I hate Telstra so it is an improvement.

We have acquired 3 pigs since I last wrote, Martha-Mae, Snowball and Napoleon. As well as these three beautiful pinkies we have a new 4 year old cat, a Siamese called Audrey. We are rapidly turning into a zoo, but this is great, I love animals...I wonder who will turn up to us next !

I have been using the waxing and almost full moon a lot recently. My bay leaf tree has been going nuts for me. We have bay leaves everywhere in the house, the phone, the computers and I feel a definite change in the air. Have felt a little confused recently about work, I don't know how long I should stay on leave for. I budgeted really well over the holidays so that we would have enough to tide us over whilst on leave, but a few unforeseen expenses arrived and now I want work, lots of it ! I keep having moments of up and down, too much caffeine doesn't help most likely !

Our home life and relationship is brilliant however, so when I get all career confused, I simply think, well it's ok, I have I and M and all feels peaceful again !

I am totally obsessed with the DVDs of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall right now. Basic story : London ex chef moves to Dorset to downsize and live semi-self sufficiently. He cheffed in London, got sacked, writes for the newspaper and does a few other groovy and circle-of-life type natural things, he is very inspiring. As a downsizer myself, I feel connection to his way of life. M loves the DVDs too, she is learning a lot about living in tune with nature through watching them. I am very proud our daughter actually likes something that I consider educational moreso than ABC kids ! She doesn't watch any TV as we don't have reception here anyway !

She is a great kid !

" Tears of a mama "

My baby started school today.

Boo hoo !

No, no need for tears, she was very excited. She looks very smart in her uniform ! She likes it too, though am not sure if she'll still like it when she's 12 and in Grade six .

Happy days !

" He's Very Clean "

The thing that struck me about darling Rufus in the flesh, was how clean he was ! Even after an hour playing and singing, he seemed to sparkle. Was he good ? Damn right he was ! OMG, I was in ecstasy the whole way through the show, mainly because of the fact that of all the famous people I have met, he did NOT disappoint. Shaking his hand and telling him I thought he was funny was great too. I still love him.

This is a first, because as I think I have said before, whenever I meet a famous person, I am inevitably disappointed and don't like them afterwards. The other top outcome of the show was that he played ALL my favourite songs, which either makes me predictable or lucky.

Coupled with superb company, a terrific tea, and the suit that looked exactly the way I wanted it to and I was a happy thirty something.

Now, all I have to do is come back down to earth....

Have a wonderful day wherever on the planet you may be and whoever you may be...
